Day 30

December 1, 2008

Why hello there, it’s the last day of this project.

Obviously we need to wrap this up with morals, just like a cheesy American cartoon (Captain Planet, etc.). The obvious gets even more obviouser: it’s easier to save when you go by a shopping list, instead of the usual on-the-fly decisionmaking.

$30 a month is certainly doable, if a little boring. I could’ve made it interesting, but I’m just not that creative.

And today’s adventures in food? I didn’t eat anything today, until about five minutes ago. (6:45 pm) I was starting to feel woozy and dizzy and all those zys, so I went and cooked a 39-cent pack of noodles, and some tofu. Greasy, oddly satisfying. I still feel hungry.

Day 29

November 30, 2008

Haven’t written anything up for the past few days. It’s been bok choy, rice, and potatoes.

Potatoes in all its forms. Boiled, mashed, baked, fried. Very filling, but I get hungry very quickly, too?

You know what I’d really like to have? Pie.

Day 25

November 26, 2008

More of the same. Ughhhh. I must have some form of variety in my food, before I completely lose interest in food.

Going shopping tomorrow, I guess. On Thanksgiving day. I fear the crowds I may face, but then again maybe not. Asians don’t generally make a big deal out of Thanksgiving, and I am surrounded by Asian supermarkets. (Though I say this as an Asian who finds all holidays uninteresting. I am biased, obviously.)

Day 25

November 26, 2008

Breakfast: Rice and tofu, with hot sauce. Gross, but filling.

Day 24

November 25, 2008

Rice, fried and boiled tofu. Really boring. Attempt to spice things up tomorrow. Maybe with potatoes. Hmm.

Day 23

November 24, 2008

Lunch, plain rice and boiled tofu.

6 pm, an attempt to make potato chips (oil, chips, toaster oven). Gross.

It’s now a few minutes to midnight. I’ve barely eaten all day, and I don’t care for food either. Hmm!

Day 22

November 23, 2008

Woke up late. Not hungry until 3 pm. Rice, tofu, bok choy.

Went to Ralph’s and bought … 5 lb of potatoes for 99 cents! It must be Thanksgiving week.

Dinner … very strange. I have no recollection whatsoever of what I ate. I just can’t seem to recall. I don’t understand.

Day 21

November 22, 2008

So I ate dry cereal all day yesterday. And all day, even while I was sleeping at night … I was really thirsty. I had to wake up to drink water, etc. Maybe I’m diabetic. I don’t think so, though.

It’s now 3 pm and I’ve yet to eat.

At 5-ish pm, a dinner of rice, boiled bok choy, fried tofu.

Day 20

November 21, 2008

For breakfast, two handfuls of dry cereal. I know this because that’s how I reached into the box and deposited it on a kleenex (actually, a scotties).

Day 19

November 20, 2008

Shopping for additional supplies. 2lb of bok choy, $1.69. Container of tofu, $1.49.

Lunch. Rice, avocado, tofu.
